Happy Father's Day!

I hope everyone has had a good Father's Day! Cory got to go golfing yesterday, but then I got sick so he had to take care of me today. Naomi got out her doctor tools to help take care of me too.

After dinner, we had a squirt gun fight in the backyard. My gun was broken and Cory's was working the best. Once he was out of water, Naomi figured out how to use her gun. So Cory became the target.

How We Beat the Heat

So far we've been having a fun summer. We go to the movies every Friday for this kid program that Harkins does for the kids. We go to the library, the pool, and the pet store. We saw Shrek Forever After, because Naomi loves the Shrek movies.

We went to Jeepers with a bunch of ward friends.

Naomi's sitting on the back row, far side with her friends.

Last week, Naomi started swim lessons. She's doing so good. The teacher is great with the kids and Naomi loves going under water now.

Her teacher tells her to pretend she's Sleeping Beauty when she wants her to practice floating on her back.

Last week, we also went to Tempe Beach Park with a group of friends. Naomi had so much fun.

That's what we've been up to so far. We look forward to more summer fun!

Change

So I've been growing out my hair for 4 years now. It was long, dry, stringy, and hard to comb. So I decided it was time for a change.
Before

After

I cut off eight inches and dyed it blonder than it was. I haven't been this blonde since I met Cory. I thought about going shorter, but I'm a ponytail kind of girl, so I needed it long enough that I could still pull it back.

Yakkity Yak

Naomi has been really funny lately.

The other day I needed to run something over to our next door neighbor. Naomi was busy watching a movie and I asked her if she wanted to come, she said she wanted to watch her movie. So I told her I would be next door and be gone only a minute. As I'm knocking on my neighbor's door I hear Naomi crying in the house, so I go back home to find the door locked. I have no keys, no phone, and the truck so Cory can't even come home and save me. Naomi is panicking and crying, so I'm trying not to panic.

Me: Naomi turn the lock, you need to unlock the door
Naomi: I can't (crying so hard :( )
Me: You have to unlock the door, you need to unlock the door
Naomi: You unlock the door (with attitude)

She's so sassy, I couldn't believe that was her response. So moral of the story, don't leave home without the keys. And yes Naomi finally let me back in.

Last night during dinner, Naomi told me she wanted an popsicle and to play outside. I told her that once she finished her dinner she could.

Naomi: I can't eat this. I want a popsicle.
Me: You can have a popsicle when you finish your chicken.
Naomi: But I want to go outside.
Me: Once you finish your chicken you can go outside.
(This went back and forth for a while, as I was finishing my dinner)
Naomi: I want a popsicle and to play outside.
Me: You can't until your chicken is gone. (I show her my empty plate) I can have a popsicle and go outside because I finished my dinner. But you can't until you've eaten your dinner.
Naomi: Good job Mommy! You ate all your dinner.

Gotta love her!
