Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Naomi decided we should have a family T-ball game in the living room. We all took a turn and she cheered for us each time we hit the ball. It was really funny.

You know, I think she has a pretty good stance for being only 2 and 1/2 years old. The only instructions I gave her was to hold the bat with TWO hands and she did the rest. Maybe this is the start of a future in softball :)

There's a Bug on My Head

When it comes to taking pictures of Naomi, she is very uncooperative. She runs before the camera takes the picture, she usually doesn't smile, and she won't usually look at the camera. If I ask her to say cheese, she'll say it as she turns her head the other direction. I've tried a lot of things to get her to look at me and the only thing that works 99 percent of the time is when I say, "say cheese, there's a bug on my head." She looks because she is so fascinated by bugs.

Anyway, today she was playing with her toy camera and decided she should take pictures of mommy. So I stand there so she can take my picture and she says to me, "say cheese, there's a bug on my head." She's so funny.

The Big Slide

Now that Naomi likes going down the big slide, that's all she wants to do. Well just today she learned a new trick. She can climb up the slide. She is so smart; she's a great problem solver.

(This is how Naomi goes down the slide)

Afraid of the Big Slide

So Naomi loves going to the park. She loves playing on the equipment. She loves going down little slides, but she won't go down any of the big corkscrew slides (like the one pictured above) because they scare her.

This morning before it got too hot, we went to the little park in our complex. She brought her baby doll with because she said her baby wanted to go down the slide. She went to where the big corkscrew slide was and pushed her baby down. She had me stand at the bottom to catch the baby. After a while, she decided she wanted to go down but only if I came with. I went down with her twice, and then I told her she should try it by herself. I said I'd catch her at the bottom. She'd get to the top and I'd say ready go, but then she'd start whimpering and move away from the slide. After a lot of coaxing she finally went down the slide all by herself, although she went down on her tummy at least she did it.

I'm so proud of her, it's hard to overcome fears.

Silly Girl

Naomi can be so silly. She ran around the house wearing these 3-d glasses. She was making the funniest faces while she was wearing them. She makes me laugh.

Growing Up

Naomi is growing up way too fast. She is becoming very independent and loves to pretend like she is the mom. She especially loves to help me with chores. She won't let me buckle her into her high chair because she can do it herself, which is what she tells me if I come near her. She is now figuring out how to buckle herself up in the car seat. The car seat was in the house today so she spent some time figuring out how it worked and then practicing her skills. With very little help from me, she figured it out.

She even put her shoes on today by herself, on the correct feet. Naomi likes to take care of her baby. She changes baby's diaper, sings her songs, reads to her, even puts her down for naps and rubs her head and cuddles her. It's so cute.

Naomi's favorite chore is to put the dishes away. She loves it. Our dishwasher doesn't work very well, so I hand wash the dishes and put them in the dishwasher to dry. Naomi wants to instantly put them away but I try to explain to her that we have to let them dry. She doesn't quite understand but she waits until I tell her its time and then she gets so excited and starts pulling out dishes. The nice thing is that she knows where most everything goes and the only things I help her with are the high stuff and the glass stuff.

Fun with cousins

This last week Naomi's cousins from Utah came to town, so we spent some time with all the cousins. We went to Jump and Shout on Monday and to Amazing Jake's on Tuesday. We had a lot of fun and we were sad that they had to leave. Here are some pictures:

At Jump and Shout Naomi said she was "napping."

Naomi and her cousins (Abby and Hannah) helped hide cousin Jessy from the monsters

At Amazing Jake's the kids rode their favorite rides over and over (Naomi's the one laying her head down)

They also got to play miniature golf. Naomi's version was to drop the ball into the hole...

Or to crawl under the net and toss the ball into the hole to get a hole-in-one

Multi-Tasking

Even at a young age girls can multitask. Naomi was "talking" to grandma while she was taking care of baby.

It's official

After living here for so many months we finally went to the MVD and changed our licenses. I am no longer a Utah resident, I am officially a resident of Arizona.

The first thing I did as an Arizona resident was get a library card. Naomi was so excited to check out library books and movies. Now that I have a library card I'm going to start reading more myself, so if any of you've read some books that you recommend, then by all means, recommend away.
