My soap box

So usually my posts are about Naomi, but I just felt I really needed to share what I've been thinking about lately.

When we drove home from Utah at the beginning of the week, we went a way we have never ever been. We basically went the scenic route (which took 2 hours longer to get home). Cory was really frustrated because he knew we were supposed to turn off at a certain place and he didn't, and we really just wanted to be home. I just laughed because I knew that being frustrated wouldn't magically get us home faster, but seriously we drove forever through the windiest roads I've ever been on through the mountains of Arizona (yes mountains, but not like Utah mountains). So we were driving and we were getting so sick of driving in the mountains. Every turn there were more mountains winding around every single curve, going up and down. I really just wanted to see a town, buildings, people, or something to know we were getting closer to home. The whole time we were talking about how nice it would be if there was a bridge because it would cut our time in half. So I know I'm jabbering on, but I'm getting to my point. Well I feel like lately that is how our life has been, we're on this long, curvy path trying to figure life out after college. We're moving forward but it doesn't always feel like it because the scene is the same. Most days it doesn't bother me because I know everything will work out, but some days it's tough. So today when I was fasting I asked for reassurance and today during church I got it. I read the words to the hymn "Be Still, My Soul" and "Lead, Kindly Light" and I started to cry, He let me know he heard me. The words that really stuck out to me were from the second verse of "Be Still My Soul, it said "all now mysterious shall be bright at last." And from "Lead, Kindly Light," it said, "I loved to choose and see my path, but now; lead thou me on." Right now we're in that time where we're not sure what our future holds, we can't see what our path is, that time of uncertainty, but soon, when the time is right, we'll know and it won't be a mystery.

If any of you are confused, I'm sorry. But if any of have been feeling this way lately go read these hymns, it helped me to remember that God hears us and that He is with us and we need to trust Him because he will lead us down the right path.

My Baby is Growing Up

For the last month I've been preparing Naomi for potty training. I've talked to her about it, read books to her, and had her sit on her little potty. Usually she sits on her potty when I'm changing her diaper which means she already went. BUT today before we went swimming, I had her sit on her potty and she went pee in it. I'm so proud of her. I made a really big deal of it, and she recognized what she did but she just wanted to go swimming. She's growing up so fast.

BYU Graduation

So we went back to Utah for graduation. I'm so proud of Cory, we've been through a lot these past few years being in college and working and having a baby, but we have a lot of good memories. I think I was actually really sad that those crazy times were over, I know we had already moved away but it's official now. Naomi did really well during commencement, that's mostly because she slept, but she had a lot of grandparents to play with her. We're so glad that Cory's family could come up and that my family close by to celebrate with us. We had a lot of fun seeing everyone. We miss you all, but we don't miss the snow especially since it snowed the last day we were there. Thanks for all the support we received from family and friends, we couldn't have made it through without you. Anyway, here are some pictures from our fun in Utah.

Happy Easter!

Naomi had a good Easter with her cousins. They woke up early and found all the goodies, then they looked for all the eggs hidden around the house, and then we got ready for church. The rest of the day Naomi and her cousins hid the eggs, found them, and re-hid them. It was really funny to watch.

April Break

Friday the kids had no school because it was April Break, so we went out to the desert and rode the quads. Cory had to work so, Naomi and I went with the cousins without him. Naomi had fun riding around with Aunt Sondra, but her favorite part of the day was wading in the stream with cousin Cody. While Naomi was playing in the water I went riding around on some of the trails. It was so much fun. Naomi had so much fun that she fell asleep a couple into the drive home. Maybe next time Cory can come too.

I love pigtails

Naomi was pretty good about letting me do her hair (thanks to some M&M's). (On her forehead you can see two bruises healing from her kisses with the pavement, poor girl)

Little Stars

Riley came home from school today with a jump rope, but Naomi thought it was a microphone. Naomi was walking around the house just singing gibberish so Riley joined her and they started singing together. So here is Naomi and Riley's rendition of "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" (I didn't get the whole song because my camera died, but they were still way cute)
